2 legendary camp/cult classics on 1 DVD!!, 2003-12-27 What more could one ask for? Valley of the Dolls took itself seriously with hilarious effects. Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (supposedly not related) was more of a spoof that played straight with seriously hilarious effects. Both are camp classics and at this price, this DVD is nearly impossible to pass up.

Director:
Arthur Penn
Patty Duke and Anne Bancroft had been playing their respective roles as Helen Keller and her teacher, Annie Sullivan, on Broadway for some time before director Arthur Penn (The Left-Handed Gun) built a mesmerisingly beautiful film around their layers-deep performances. Duke is astonishing as the deaf, blind, mute Keller, who awakens to an awareness of language under Sullivan's determined guidance. Bancroft is fascinating and focused. Penn wisely kept his adaptation unencumbered by cinematic indulgence. The black-and-white film is sparse and charged with the immediacy of the drama. The Miracle Worker's script is by William Gibson, who also wrote the original play. --Tom Keogh
So wonderful!, 2010-08-06 This is quite possibly the emotional film ever made. Everybody knows the story of Helen Keller, and has seen the Disney movie. But this film is so wonderful (mind, the Disney movie is good too, but not as good as this one). I cried and cried and cried. It moved me so much, and put a smile on my face. I can't recommend this movie enough! Everybody should see it! Just keep some tissues at hands!

True Story, 2002-07-14 The rescue of jessica mcClure is a tense and moving film, The film is dramatic in places and will leave you wanting to watch more, I didnt move from my seat until the film had finished because i wanted to know what happened to the little girl. This isnt the sort of film you can watch again and again as the reason you watch it the first time is to find out what happens to jessica. A gripping film the first time round, But only worth watching once. I would recomend this video to the more mature, A video for mothers i think !?

well worth the wait, 2009-02-10 I have been searching the internet for this series for years and finally someone informed me just before Christmas that it was being released in January. I found it on Amazon.com last month and it was delivered on Saturday last. I was so delighted with it that I ended up watching all three dvd's from midday till around eight at night. This was a truly classic piece of tv drama that was well worth the price and even the wait.

Staring:
Meg Ryan, Alec Baldwin, Kathy Bates, Ned Beatty, Patty Duke
Director:
Norman René
Alec Baldwin reprises a role he originated in Craig Lucas's off-Broadway smash (which later had a Broadway run without him) in this touchingly romantic, funny and underrated fantasy. He falls for a woman (Meg Ryan) at first sight and marries her but on their wedding day an elderly stranger wanders into the reception, kisses the bride and trades bodies with her. Once Baldwin figures out that something is amiss with the Mrs., he must track down the old man, in whom resides the spirit of his true love. This is a beautiful allegory about the nature of love and the commitment to give oneself in sickness and health, for better or worse, to achieve a true meeting of the spirits. Prelude to a Kiss was directed with a light touch by the late Norman Rene, with strong performances by Baldwin and Ryan. --Marshall Fine
Prelude to a kiss, 2010-07-13 Starts off quite slowly and just when I thought it was going to get boring the wedding day happened. It had a Brilliant twist when the Old Man and the Bride kissed. Very good acting by the 3 main characters, never seen anything quite like this film. It was mainly romantic but had some comedy thrown in.

Director:
Irwin Allen
Legendarily chintzy "event" producer Irwin Allen (The Towering Inferno) went out with a gargantuan buzz-on with this jaw-droppingly goofy disaster flick. No cliché is left unturned, as a hyperactive strain of hallucination-inducing killer bees get it into their microscopic brains to derail a commuter train, destroy a nuclear power plant and otherwise decimate a veritable cornucopia of washed-up actors (Fred MacMurray, Henry Fonda, Richard Widmark, Patty Duke, Slim Pickens and narcoleptic dreamboat Richard Chamberlain are just a few of the legendary has-beens to get fatally stung by what appears to be airborne coffee grounds). Be sure to stay tuned through the closing credits for a (lawsuit-preventing?) coda absolving the good ol' hardworking American honeybee of any and all sinister charges depicted herein. The Swarm is an irresistibly hilarious chunk of honey-roasted cheese--70s style. --Andrew Wright
BEELINE FOR TROUBLE, 2009-07-22 ANOTHER WELL MADE MOVIE THAT CAUSED ME TO SIT ON THE EDGE OF MY SOFA, IN AWE OF MILLIONS OF BEES. GOOD ACTING AND REALISTIC--EVEN THE BEES WERE BRILLIANT ACTORS! ALTHOUGH I WOULD HATE TO BE CAUGHT IN A SWARM OF BEES IN REALITY, THEY DO MAKE BRILLIANT MOVIES.
