For his fourth studio album Canadian crooner Michael Bublé has headed into the studio with his live band to create an album of…autobiographical love songs. The outcome, according to Bublé, is the "ultimate record about the inevitable roller coaster ride of relationships". It’s true that from the dramatic opening--a great cover of Julie London’s "Cry Me a River"--the album swings like a pendulum between introspective balladry and exuberant pop. As is to be expected with Bublé, he has revamped plenty of classics along the way, tackling evergreens like "Georgia On My Mind", Van Morrison's "Crazy Love" and the Eagles' "Heartache Tonight" with typical aplomb. He also joins contemporary soulsters like diva Sharon Jones (of Dap Kings fame) on "Baby (You’ve Got What It Takes)" and singer-songwriter Ron Sexsmith to recreate one of Sexmith’s tunes, the sultry "Whatever It Takes". Bublé’s two self-penned songs fit in well with the overall high standard. The poppy single “Haven’t Met You Yet” is catchy and the folky “Hold On” also helps make Crazy Love yet another quintessential Michael Bublé experience. --Danny McKenna

Pop's rush to raid the cradle continues with this promising, self-titled debut by 25-year-old Canadian singer Michael Bublé. And while the young vocal star's good looks are smart enough for a boy band, his muse seems to have sprung from a more sassy and compelling musical era. Mentored by Paul Anka (whose 1950s hit "Put Your Head on My Shoulder" is covered in dreamy, cabaret fashion here), Bublé sings in the orbits of Darin and Sinatra, covering swing epoch gems ("Come Fly with Me", "The Way You Look Tonight", "That's All") and rock-era standards (Van Morrison's "Moondance", "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" by the Brothers Gibb, Queen's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love") with equal aplomb. David Foster's production is typically slick and played to the back row of the bleachers, but it's informed by smart contexts provided by such arrangers as Johnny Mandel, Randy Waldman and Mike Melvoin. If the choices of material are sometimes staid and predictable, they also give the singer a crucial framework for building toward something more challenging; his is a bright future. --Jerry McCulley
Excellent cover versions, 2010-04-05 I think it's fair to say that cover versions are often quite disappointing imitations of the original, but there are several tracks on here that I think are as good as, if not better than, the original versions. My particular favourites are The Way You Look Tonight (beautifully smooth orchestration, which goes perfectly with Michael Buble's velvety style - he sounds like melted chocolate singing this!), Moondance (I've seen Van Morrison do this live and I was a bit nervous about hearing Michael Buble's version but was unexpectedly delighted to find that I actually prefer the Buble version and can't resist singing along whenever I listen to it), Sway (a perfect song for his voice, superb) and Fever (this was the track on the album I was most sceptical about but I think his version is an incredible success, and it still amazes me every time I listen to it.) All in all, an excellent album from a man with an outstanding talent. 5 stars!

Michael Buble's assured debut and the tireless year of globe-trotting touring he spent promoting it elevated the 20-something Vancouver native into the first rank of pop crooner revivalists. His sophomore studio follow-up largely turns on the same formula that helped make his considerable vocal prowess so attractive to mainstream audiences, mixing the nigh flawless, if expected Sinatra-channelling ("I've Got You Under My Skin") with more playful and inviting renditions of pop standards like the Gershwin's "A Foggy Day in London Town," "Feeling Good," "Try A Little Tenderness" and Cole Porter's "I've Got You Under My Skin." But it's the eclectic mix of more contemporary material the singer seasons them with--apt tribute to Buble hero Bobby Darin--that keeps him walking the narrow tightrope between artistic intrigue (a blues-tinged vamp of Holland-Dozier-Holland's "How Sweet It Is," Leon Russell's lovely "Song For You," with a guest turn by Chris Botti) and the kitsch-laden abyss ("Quando, Quando, Quando"'s Euro-centric duet with Nelly Furtado, a ring-a-ding-fling with the Beatles' "Can't Buy Me Love" that echoes fellow Canadian crooner/rival Matt Dusk's more successful flirtation wi...
Brilliant Buble, 2010-06-30
I was initially wary of listening to a version of "Can't buy me love" other than the Beatles but I was really impressed with the Buble version. I was a great fan of Sinatra but I feel that Mr Buble has as much if not more to offer as an singer and probably more versatility.

Michael Buble meets Madison Square Garden, 2010-05-27 Having bought both 'Caught In The Act' and 'Come Fly With Me' dvds,
I would definatly recommend this one. If you are a true fan, you
won't be dissapointed.Once again MB gives a perfect performance on
stage, but also draws you into his life behind the curtain. I went
to see him at the LG Arena in Birmingham for the first time this year
and he blew my mind. Now I'm going to order Crazy Love special edition

A year after Canadian heart-throb Michael Bublé made his debut, the CD/DVD set Come Fly with Me chronicles his crowd-pleasing performances on a triumphant tour. The audio portion kicks off with pair of new studio recordings that underline his 1950s-something leanings with mixed results: "Nice 'n' Easy" has a Sinatra-faithful jazzy swing; the overproduced, somnambulistic "Can't Help Falling in Love" evokes Perry Como more than Elvis. Most of the rest of the audio CD comprises live versions of songs from Bublé's debut, with his takes on "My Funny Valentine", "Fever", Van Morrison's "Moondance" and "Mack the Knife" again suggesting that Bublé has an ear cocked wisely towards Bobby Darin. With the notable exception of three elegant live-in-studio performances culled from Sessions@AOL, the live DVD does Bublé's undeniably charming stage presence a great disservice. Intercut awkwardly with offstage comments by Bublé and his band, the balance of that disc suffers from an MTV-inspired cut/dissolve-every-three-seconds style that's intended to focus one's attention, but does exactly the opposite. If sudden stardom virtually guarantees that Bublé's impossibly smooth, ex...
5 stars isn't enough, 2004-05-13 i have listened to both of his cds now i let me tell you he is on top form with this album. it's a pity he doesn't release a single because any one of these tracks would be great and if i had my way it would be number one. i seem to be the only one in my generation who enjoys this kind of music. it's a pity as well because talent like this should be appreciated. i recommend you buy this just to hear his soothing voice through your hi fi. my favourite trck is ... well all of them. i can't possibly choose one. if you don't want to go on the words of a stranger who could be talking nonsense then go on the words of micheal parkinson who also is a big fan of his aswell.
