It's practically impossible to mention Muse without also bringing up Radiohead. Listening to Muse's debut, it's easy to see why. Showbiz was produced by John Leckie, the producer of The Bends, and features the frightfully Yorke-esque choiral falsetto of front-man Matthew Bellamy, running the whole emotional gamut of unhappiness from sincere upset to outright dysfunction. New ground, it's fair to say, remains distinctly unbroken. To Muse's credit, though, they do this angst thing pretty well. "Cave" is a wonderful, terrible epic, replete with rank after rank of bludgeoning guitars, "Muscle Museum" builds up swathes of complex baroque noise, and "Escape"--well, it's a surrogate "No Surprises" with a firework finale, and should keep us ticking over until the next Radiohead album, thank you very much. See? You can't escape the comparison. But at least Showbiz wears it well.--Louis Pattison

Just re-buying this on new medium as is well worth having. Avant Muse fan so anything I say is biased. This rocks. Not as hard as Origin, but excellent start for this band - all those years ago. Will highly recommend to anyong discovering their new stuff more recently.

Black Holes and Revelations finds Muse finally achieving their full potential, producing an album that is their biggest yet. And for a band that was responsible for the grandiose Origin of the Symmetry, that's no mean feat. I've only come to know Muse of late. Don't know how I missed them. I am totally obsessed. I have 3 CD's in my car and when the changer goes on to somethiong else I last about 4 minutes and then I move it on to the next Muse CD. They hit a spot deep within me.

It takes a certain sort of band to fill Wembley stadium, one unafraid to embrace scale, flirt with pomposity, and perform the odd grand gesture. Watching Muse's live CD/DVD H.A.A.R.P--recorded over two nights in June 2007--you're left wondering if Wembley is quite big enough to hold them. From the grand opening, when Muse ascend from an underground chamber and walk down a central ramp flanked by men in yellow chemical splash suits to Matt Bellamy's lengthy, florid turns at the grand piano, no opportunity is missed to make H.A.A.R.P seem anything less than a spectacle. Shot in high definition, the camera-work is as snappy and dynamic as any movie blockbuster, with special attention to the crowd, who are picked out with sometimes breathtaking detail. Being a recent Muse convert through live festivals, this screamed at me to buy it, and I was not let down. Being new enough to contain most Muse anthems this is close to a greatest hits set! As any Muse fan will know, they come into their own when live... for me they are the natural successors to Queen.
This is a must buy for fans and strongly urge people that have only just discovered this band to get this.... absolute classic!

With Absolution, size is most definitely an issue. Hoping that it will finally propel them into the musical major leagues, Muse have set out to create a cross-genre monster, a contemporary meisterwerk, the biggest-sounding album in years. That they almost succeed is testament to their sky-high confidence and unarguable abilities. With just three members to draw upon, they've individually stretched themselves to fill in the inevitable sonic gaps. Bassist Chris Wolstenholme, in particular, does sterling work, producing a driving buzz to lift "Time Is Running Out" to a massive crescendo, then a rush of distortion that pushes "Hysteria" to Queen-like levels of ecstasy. Throughout, Matt Bellamy adds classical grace with his tinkling, rolling grand piano, all the while moaning and shrieking out his fear of decay, destruction and death, like a traumatised Gene Pitney. ordered this product with origin of symetry, both got 1 day before the estimated dates. Great package also 4 times cheaper than here in madrid.
lets review the cd: one of the best cds in history. time is running out or hysteria make your hairs stand out. a 10/10 for them. sing for absolution, blackout, stockholm syndrome or falling away with you deserve at least a 9/10. The rest of the song of this brilliant cd are not so great and famous as the other ones, but deseve a 8/10.

I only discovered MUSE when Black Holes and Revelations came out, and I thought that album was amazing.
Now I discover some of their older stuff including Origin of Symmetry and it blew me away that it was better by far!
It seems even a bad MUSE track is better than a good track of most other artists.
