What can you say!!, 2005-06-17 Michael Jackson at his best with the Jackson 5's, this is probably my favourite album along side Bad and Thiller! Has lots of good hits! Apart from some all time favourites such as ABC is not there, but you can get a Box set with this Cd and two other Jacksons albums which i would recommend! But if you have heard one or two songs and want to find out if you do really like the jacksons then just buy this one! A must to all MJ fans!

Seventies soul at its best, 2002-04-23 If you were a child of the 70's, you could not have missed the phenomena that were the Jackson 5. When I say they were huge, I would be making a major under statement.Michael Jackson, aged only 12, was obviously the star of the show, with his amazing voice and good looks (how times have changed). This album was the peak of their collective achievements on the famous Motown record label. And all the songs are masterpieces of R&B art. If you like soul then I dare you to NOT tap your feet to the title track. It's impossible! The album has its slow numbers like 'One More Chance' and an upbeat tune like no other in 'Love You Save'. This album has it all! This band has been an inspiration to a thousand other bands and is worth being in my collection on just that merit alone.

The Jackson 5's Third Album was not only that, it was their third in nine months. "I'll Be There", the signature ballad and the album's best track, was already ruling the airwaves when the LP appeared. The meld of fuzz-tone guitar and soul harmonies on "Ready or Not (Here I Come)" and "Can I See You in the Morning" makes for sweet listening, as does a cover of the beach-music favourite "Oh How Happy". And "How Funky is Your Chicken" is worthy of the Rufus Thomas hit it riffs on. "Goin' Back to Indiana," however, reeks of showbiz clichés, as does the next album's borderline-offensive "Honey Chile." The laidback Maybe Tomorrow nonetheless offers excellent ballad performances on its title single, "Never Can Say Goodbye," and Jermaine doo-wop showcases "16 Candles" and "She's Good". But the late-'71 hit "Sugar Daddy," included here as a bonus track alongside its flip, "I'm So Happy," proves that the once-fresh "ABC"/"Love You Save" lyric formula was running on fumes. --Rickey Wright

Middle years at Motown, 2010-06-19 Goin' Back To Indiana / Looking Through The Windows
The first album 'Goin' back to Indiana' has never before been available to the UK market, unless as an import, so it's a very welcome inclusion on this CD. The album starts with 'I want you back' followed by one of their most soulful singles, 'Maybe tomorrow' which, was not as successful as all their previous hits, and surprisingly, was not issued as a single in the UK. Bill Cosby is involved in the album, and is his usual funny character, although it would be even better if this was a DVD. Towards the end of the album, the track 'Walk On' is such a different style to the group, and was an attempt to attract a wider audience, particularly as this was the psychedelic age.
Looking Through The Windows was a serious move from the earlier hit albums (Diana Ross Presents the J5, ABC, Third Album) and marks a change in direction for the group. Michael remained the key lead singer, although Jermaine's vocals are clearly in the front too. The title track, "Lookin' Through The Windows" was a bold move to demonstrate that Michael was becoming a teenager, and therefore his vocal ability is able to reflect that. The delightful "To Know" is one of the highlights on this album, and could easily have been a success if issued as the A side of a single. There is the inclusion of the big UK hit, "Doctor my eyes", which is the Jackson Browne track, and one where Jermaine and Michael share the lead. Most of the remainder of the album goes from fast tracks to slightly slower, but lack the power of the first 5 tracks on this album, before it begins to close with 'Love Song' which is a relatively rare track, which is a solid performance by the Jackson 5, and is similar in quality to the first half of the album. The final track is the live version of 'Who's Lovin' You', the Smokey Robinson composition, which was a firm favourite in the early days of the Jackson 5 being on tour, and is included here for the first time being available to the public.
A superb album which shows the vitality and diversity of the Jackson 5 from their middle years at Motown.
