I was very surprised to find this great show as full box sets in German and English on the German amazon.de as: Tennis, Schläger & Kanonen - 1. Staffel (7 DVDs) and good value for money. Funny that you can't get it on amazon.co.uk nor on amazon.com as box sets? P.S. Same happens with 'Bonanza'.

Average rating of 5/5 well worth the wait, 2009-02-10
I have been searching the internet for this series for years and finally someone informed me just before Christmas that it was being released in January. I found it on Amazon.com last month and it was delivered on Saturday last. I was so delighted with it that I ended up watching all three dvd's from midday till around eight at night. This was a truly classic piece of tv drama that was well worth the price and even the wait.

Average rating of 5/5 Worth seeing, 2009-12-29
I first saw this movie over forty years ago,and it left a mark on my conscious. It vanished off the market for a number of years but its now back with "Moviemars"

Well worth seeing a good family film.based on a true story. Sadly I detected a few racist comments passed in the film about the Irish.

Nothing to bad but my wife sat up and looked at me. She is Irish.

Average rating of 4/5 What might have been..., 2010-02-06
THE NIGHT GALLERY is most definitely NOT the Twilight Zone. Now would it wish to be. Instead, find herein up to three stories per episode - some long, some very short and amounting to no more than a single gag. The quality is uneven; some shine, some do not. But if you love '70s television, and you enjoy horror, then this colection is for you.
Season One contains several standout episodes. "Eyes", as noted by other reviewers, was Steven Spielberg's directorial debut, and what a debut. It also contains Joan Crawford in possibly her last screen role. Stars abound in The Night Gallery. Roddy McDowell at his snivelling best in "The Cemetery", Burgess Meredith as a tramp who discovers a magical doctor's case in "Little Black Bag", Ceasar Romero as a very jovial vampire in "Matter of Semantics", Bill Bixby and Vincent Price in "Return of the Sorceror".
Rod Serling takes most of the writing credits. Others include Richard Matheson and Clarke Ashton Smith. Some of the stories are compelling ("They're Tearing Down Riley's Bar", "The House"), some whimsical ("Professor Peabody's Last Lecture"), some genuinely chilling ("The Doll" and "Diary"). But all are worth a look - even the extremely short "Big Surprise".
If you want polished pieces of fantasy, go back to the Twilight Zone - but if you want to experiment, surrounded by famous faces of the 1970s, then you could do a lot worse than stroll down the Night Gallery. You never know what you'll see...

Average rating of 5/5 "Rawhide ... Season Three Vol. One ... Paramount Pictures (2008)", 2009-01-01
CBS Television and Paramount Pictures presents "RAWHIDE: SEASON THREE VOL. ONE" (30 September 1960 - 17 February 1961) (777 mins/In Glorious Black & White) (digitally remastered in Dolby) -- Rawhide was a television western series that aired on the U.S. network CBS from 1959 to 1966. The show starred Eric Fleming and launched the career of Clint Eastwood --- The series ran for eight seasons on the CBS network on Friday nights, from January 9, 1959 to January 4, 1966, with a total of 217 episodes, all filmed and broadcast in black and white --- It was produced and sometimes directed by Charles Marquis Warren who also produced early episodes of Gunsmoke --- Warren based Rawhide on the movie Cattle Empire that he directed in 1958 and for which Endre Bohem was a screenwriter and Paul Brinegar, Steve Raines and Rocky Shahan were actors; all also worked in Rawhide --- Its premiere episode reached the top 20 in the Nielsen Ratings. It rose steadily in popularity until, towards the end of the series run, it was one of America's top ten shows --- Rawhide was the fourth longest-running American TV western, beaten only by nine years of The Virginian and Wagon Train, fourteen years of Bonanza, and twenty years of Gunsmoke.

The episode would be introduced, usually by some words from Gil Favor but sometimes by others --- The typical Rawhide story involved drovers, portrayed by Eric Fleming (Trail Boss Gil Favor) and Clint Eastwood (ramrod Rowdy Yates), coming upon people on the trail and getting drawn into solving whatever problem they presented or were confronting --- Some of the stories were obviously easier in production terms but the peak form of the show was convincing and naturalistic, and sometimes brutal. Its situations could range from parched plains to anthrax, ghostly riders to wolves, cattle raiding, bandits, murderers, and so forth --- A problem on such drives was the constant need for water, and the scout spent much of his time looking for it, sometimes finding water holes, even rivers had dried up - In some ways it was similar to the TV series Wagon Train that debuted in 1957.

Of all the western characters on TV, these were the only real cowboys, because they drove cows. There were also sheep boys who drove sheep, pig boys who looked after pigs, etc. The name cowboys became a generic name in western films and TV series --- The theme song's lyrics were written by Ned Washington in 1958. It was composed by Dimitri Tiomkin and sung by pop singer Frankie Laine. The theme song became very popular --- It was covered several times and parts of the song also appear in more recent movies like The Blues Brothers and Shrek.-- (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
