It's definitely a must-have for everybody who was between the ages of 12 and 42 in the mid seventies. I was at the lower end of that spectrum but the songs of this great album pervaded the airwaves everywhere one went in '77 and '78. I remember listening to Yvonne Elliman's If I Can't Have You on the coach radio on a school trip to Brecon, just as I remember hearing Tavares' version of More Than A Woman on a trip to Weymouth Speedway in the school holidays!

My only wish is that these songs were presented in the order that they appear in the film. As an aficionado of the film I think it adds a bit more authenticity to the soundtrack when one can place the songs chronologically in ones mind whilst listening to it, rather than flitting backwards and forwards between scenes.

"I love to watch you dance. I LOVE to watch you dance!" So many lines such as this one evoke great memories for me, of a film that (lest we forget) Siskel and Ebert thought was as good as I did. Now that's some testimony.

This cd is simply wonderful. I got this for the little girl I nanny for. She adores it and is just 3.Her brother who is soon to be 6 wants his own copy for his birthday ! Young and old will adore.

The latest Jerry Bruckheimer production focuses on five 20-something women working their way through life at a fashionable bar in New York City. Four new LeAnn Rimes tracks highlight this collection. Though all from the pen of veteran songwriter Diane Warren, the tracks vary in style from diva pop ("Can't Fight the Moonlight") to sentimental musings ("Please Remember"). It is only a matter of time before Rimes leaves country music completely behind for the sleek modern world of mainstream pop. The remaining songs are a hotchpotch of different eras. EMF's "Unbelievable" and Snap's "The Power" hark back to the early 1990s, while Don Henley and INXS deliver the dancebeat kick of the 1980s. The firing fiddle of the Charlie Daniels Band's 1979 hit "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" seems out of context here. But then, this bar must have one odd jukebox to begin with. --Rob O'Connor

Having been to see the show at the Shaftsbury Theatre in London we had to have the sound track, just a pity that Amazon only had the Broadway sound track and not the original London cast. The show with Michael Ball & Company was brilliant, the happiest 2 hours at the theatre in many a while. The cast from Broadway is first class and the CD bursts with the enthusiasm of the production. My best buy for a long time

Hazel O'Connor's rebellious punk-styled singer is a talented timebomb ready to explode angrily at a cruel world. One night on stage she sees an audience member stabbed ("Calls the Tune"). Unable to get their face out of her mind, she slowly dissolves into a mental breakdown. The movie and album are both one-of-a-kind classics. Since O'Connor was involved so deeply with the production, the success belongs largely to her. If her acting doesn't get to you, then the songs surely will. Each makes a statement of one kind or another--most with a political slant reflecting her on-screen counterpart's bottled-up frustration. "Big Brother" points an accusing finger at Society. "Eighth Day" worries that the machine will shortly rule us. "Blackman" derides stereotyping and Class. "Who Needs It" says no thank you to nuclear energy. The music is often energetic, yet it's still her touching ballad "Will You" that lives longest in the memory. --Paul Tonks

I had this when it originally came out, but it got pinched when our house was burgled.
For some reason I never replaced it and have only just recently remembered that I needed to buy it.
It still is a masterpiece. It is very expressive and emotional and even if you have only seen the Tom cruise film, you will be able to relate to the story (even though its a bit different from the book, which this CD takes its story)
Richard Burtons narration is sublime, and the CD needs to be played loud!

I enjoyed the music in the avatar film very much when i watched it and couldn't wait to get hold of the soundtrack.
I think all the track's are great. Yes they are admittedly all rather samey but that is just the theme of the movie.
I love this album and i think it is well worth the money, whether you love the film, the composition of the music, or just want an album to relax to. It's brilliant and i highly recommend it.
