Average rating of 5/5 Ultimate Bond, 2009-09-22
I own the original EMI version of this Soundtrack as well as this albums predecessor (Blue Label version), which is equally very cool. However despite this I would still strongly recommend you buy this CD as it contains all the Bond classics in digitally re-mastered format in addition to a couple of the more rare songs like the Moby remix etc. A great Album. Buy it Now!!!

Great to listen to all those tunes again. I'd heard Kenny Loggins singing Footloose on the radio and thought - I must have that! All the tracks are brilliant, as was the film.

Disney has struck platinum with High School Musical, a made-for-cable movie that was mega-popular on the Disney Channel before spawning a mega-popular soundtrack. Echoing Grease, the plot involves two students (Zac Efron and Vanessa Anne Hutchinson) who fall for eath other while on vacation, only to realize they go to the same high school — though they belong to different cliques. Fortunately they both love singing! The songs are typical Disney pop: on the bland side but also very well-crafted, they stick to your head like strawberry-flavored gum. Among the standouts are "Get'cha Head in the Game," which incorporates noises from a basketball game (squeaking sneakers, bouncing balls, whistles) to great effect; the fab tribute to 1970s piano-pop "What I've Been Looking For"; and the old-school show-tuney "Stick to the Status Quo." The music falters when it tries to go "caliente suave" (a la Gloria Estefan's substandard "Bop to the Top") but overall this CD could get kids to bounce and sing along nicely. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

Most of the baby einstein CDs are great music to play for your little ones, but this particular one is an especially good collection of tunes. Must be one of the most played CDs I have for my child. And now that he's almost 4, he still likes to remenisce to it once in a while.

Loved, loved, loved Whedon's 'Firefly' - which remains the most repeat-watched TV series ever in our house. Bought this on the back of it, and it doesn't disappoint. Ridiculously hummable songs, funny, sad, over-the-top, completely brilliant. The blu-ray extras (amongst other things, a sung commentary for goodness sake!) are great. Only wish it was longer. However, there are mutterings of a sequel, so that's alright then.

Average rating of 5/5 Beautiful, 2010-05-25
While watching the movie Moon I was incredibly aware that I was enjoying the soundtrack just as much as the visuals and the storyline. On second viewing I realised just how much the soundtrack highlighted the important themes of the movie.
On its own it just works as a beautiful suite of piano led pieces that are both emotionally rich yet wierdly alienating. A really great album to chill out to.

Dick Dale's surf-guitar provided the memorable title theme ("Misirlou"), for Quentin Tarantino's 1994 smash, and although that sound runs throughout the soundtrack (along with bits and pieces of dialogue from the movie), this is a pretty eclectic bunch of really terrific songs. I don't know how it all manages to hang together, but it does (you might say the same for the interwoven stories in the movie). Where else are you going to find Chuck Berry, Maria McKee, Al Green, The Statler Brothers, Kool & the Gang, Urge Overkill (singing a Neil Diamond ballad!), Ricky Nelson, Dusty Springfield, and the Tornadoes (among others)on one album? McKee's beautiful "If Love is a Red Dress (Hang Me in Rags)" is a standout, partly because it's less familiar. One of the few soundtracks of the '90s that went into the CD player and stayed there for weeks and months thereafter. --Jim Emerson
Average rating of 5/5 Reminds You How Amazing The Movie Is, 2010-02-15
I love this album for two reasons.
1)It has some tracks that has no songs in it only parts of speeches taken from the movie such as the discussion between Jackson and Travolta on a Big Mac and Cheese, the famous Jackson bible speech and the discussion on how pigs are a dirty animal.
2)It feels like you are living through the movie again when listening to it, some of my favourite tracks include Let's Stay Together, Son of a Preacher Man and You'll Be a Women.

Basically if you love the movie there is no doubt in my mind you will love the soundtrack.

Elton John doesn't seem like a natural choice to write for a Disney musical, but he rose to the task on The Lion King, transcending his usual penchant for the softest of soft rock. Sir Elton's collaboration with Tim Rice (former writing partner of Andrew Lloyd Webber) helps connect the soundtrack to the theatrical lineage of all Disney musicals--so much so that, like Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King was eventually adapted for Broadway. Undistinguished songs like "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" are far outnumbered by stirring, stately tunes that lent the film so much of its sense of pageant and play. --John Sanchez
Average rating of 5/5 Truly the best Disney soundtrack ever!, 2006-05-06
This is certainly the most amazing soundtrack that Disney has produced, proven by the fact that it has won awards for its brilliance. The music is absolutely mind-blowing, and there is something there to touch every emotion, from the dramatic "Circle of Life," to the beautiful heart-wrenching "Can You Feel The Love Tonight," the fun, bouncy "I Just Can't Wait to be King" and "Hakuna Matata," and of course there's no forgetting the dark "Be Prepared." There is, of course, the wacky "Morning Report" which, despite being very good in its own right, does not match up to the others, it being an additional song for the Special Addition. Of course, it is not only the Elton John/Tim Rice songs which make up the brilliance of this soundtrack. Hans Zimmer's scores, mixed with the amazing essences of African music, really bring the CD together! The hit songs at the end are also brilliant, especially the newly added "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" re-mix! Altogether, this is one heck of a soundtrack, and it is no wonder that it won the awards that it did! This may not have as many tracks as some other Disney soundtracks, but the quality of the music on this will make you listen to it over and over again!
