Journey
Amazing!!!!!!!!, 2010-01-04 I think that this must be the most amazing greatest hits collection I have ever come across!
' Don't stop believing ' had been one of my most favourite tracks forever but I'd never encountered anything else by Journey that was until I stumbled upon this. There are no dud songs just total entertainment throughout. I first played it driving cross country and for once did't care less about traffic jams- I just wanted to hear the next track!! A must buy for anyone out there. One play and you'll be asking Bon Jovi who?!!!

Irresponsibly me, 2010-03-01 I am afraid to say that I loved this album - I have had to spend a lot of time in the car since buying this and am happy to have it going again and again. Track 2 is so 'salsa' that I find it difficult to drive whilst 'salsa-ing' in my seat'! Some tracks get fast forwarded - but on the whole a wonderfully diverse bit of entertainment. If only I could have Michael in the car with me!

Simon & Garfunkel
Simon & Garfunkel have two three-CD box sets collecting their entire career output, one with out-takes and live recordings, but the duo who were among the bestselling acts of the 1960s only recorded five studio albums throughout the entire 1960s! Their studio perfectionism is never better served than here. This greatest hits is simple and to the point, a perfect collection for anyone looking to get the basic idea (and hits) without committing to a more serious relationship. The harmonies, Paul Simon's masterful songwriting, Garfunkel's soaring choirboy voice, are all here. --Rob O'Connor
Excellent, 2009-12-15 Never seemed to get around to buying their LP's but having the CD is great. Great quality.

Sade
With her exotic beauty and steamy voice, Sade couldn't help but be a star. Taking the more sensuous elements of island beats, smooth jazz, and R&B, Sade scored major hits with the continental feel of "Smooth Operator" and the sultry stylisation of "Your Love Is King". Her voice was often criticised for being thin, yet she made it work to her advantage with songs like the haunting "Jezebel", on which her delivery added the vulnerability necessary to the song. Sade sounded best when she stuck to the lower register, and there is nothing thin about her dynamic handling of her torch song "Is It a Crime". "The Sweetest Taboo" was one of her last great moments before years of mediocrity, chronicled here by the lifeless "Stronger Than Pride" and the limp "Nothing Can Come Between Us". "No Ordinary Love" was a return to form with the smoky richness back in her vocals and the urban/island feel of her first release. Best of Sade goes right up to her hit "Pearls," which, remixed, became a dance-floor hit. The nicest surprise here is "Please Send Me Someone to Love," with Sade proving that although her range may be limited vocally, she doesn't suffer the same fate artistically. --Stev...
Simply brilliant!, 2010-03-09 Simply brilliant!
I was a Sade fan way back in the day, and one day decided to have a clear out of my old CDs, Sade included.
I heard the new single on the radio recently, and looked everywhere for my old Sade CDs, then I remembered I had foolishly got rid of them.
So I bought this CD, and from the first note was mesmerised.
This really is the very best of Sade, I play it all the time.
Buy it! It is simply brilliant!

Paolo Nutini
19-year old Scottish singer/songwriter Paolo Nutini sounds older than his years on his debut album, These Streets. It's not just his careworn, smooth-as-sandpaper voice, either (although, admittedly, it does help). It's more to do with the maturity of the lyrics, and the casual soulfulness of his delivery. "Last Request" is more the work of a vintage Motown singer than a teenager from Paisley, and it's to Nutini's credit that he carries it off with aplomb. And rather like the soul singers of previous generations, he manages to sing without a hint of hypocrisy about his own sexual exploits ("Jenny Don't Be Hasty") while also questioning his girlfriend's fidelity ("Alloway Grove"). It's the fact that he's so frank, and even a little bit naive, that he manages to get away with it. And though the stripped-down tunes on These Streets don't always immediately grab the listener (the title track, in particular), the songs where Nutini is accompanied by a full band often manage to evoke sunny-day American soul ("New Shoes", for example). This is a strong debut, and considering Paolo Nutini's tender years, bigger things can be expected of him in the future. --Ted Kord
Paolo Nutini - These Streets, 2010-03-11 Packed full of the rhythmns and moods that made this guy the legend he is at such a tender age! This is easy listening at its easiest. Keep it near at hand- you'll want to play it over and over.

Electric Light Orchestra
The Electric Light Orchestra were one of the biggest and most successful bands of the late 1970s, producing a massive string of hit singles and albums that almost any other band would envy. Their works have been cited as influences by such hip acts as Grandaddy and Super Furry Animals. Their frontman and leader Jeff Lynne has been the producer of choice for people like Paul McCartney, Tom Petty and George Harrison. From "Evil Woman", "Don't Bring Me Down" and "Mr Blue Sky" to "Livin' Thing" and "Hold On Tight", there are few duds amongst these 20 remastered tracks. ELO produced some of the biggest and best singles in rock & roll's history, and All Over The World: The Very Best Of ELO is an excellent reintroduction to this great band. Hopefully, this also signals the beginning of a long-overdue revival and re-evaluation. --Robert Burrow
All over the World - The very Best of ELO, 2009-12-23 I purchased All over the world as a Christmas present, I received it promptly and when I was next on my computer I put the disc in to make sure it play alright. It was then and only then I realised not only how many great tracks had been written and recorded by ELO, but the quality of the actual music. While typing I am still not sure whether or not I will part with this disc as a present!

Michael Buble
Michael Buble's assured debut and the tireless year of globe-trotting touring he spent promoting it elevated the 20-something Vancouver native into the first rank of pop crooner revivalists. His sophomore studio follow-up largely turns on the same formula that helped make his considerable vocal prowess so attractive to mainstream audiences, mixing the nigh flawless, if expected Sinatra-channelling ("I've Got You Under My Skin") with more playful and inviting renditions of pop standards like the Gershwin's "A Foggy Day in London Town," "Feeling Good," "Try A Little Tenderness" and Cole Porter's "I've Got You Under My Skin." But it's the eclectic mix of more contemporary material the singer seasons them with--apt tribute to Buble hero Bobby Darin--that keeps him walking the narrow tightrope between artistic intrigue (a blues-tinged vamp of Holland-Dozier-Holland's "How Sweet It Is," Leon Russell's lovely "Song For You," with a guest turn by Chris Botti) and the kitsch-laden abyss ("Quando, Quando, Quando"'s Euro-centric duet with Nelly Furtado, a ring-a-ding-fling with the Beatles' "Can't Buy Me Love" that echoes fellow Canadian crooner/rival Matt Dusk's more successful flirtation wi...

Pet Shop Boys
Pure class, 2010-03-01 Having been in the audience for the Manchester leg of this tour, it was thrilling to hear/see the set again - albeit on CD and DVD rather than in the flesh. This gig was the third time I had been to see PSB live, and if anything they seem to get better as the years go on. For a bloke past fifty, Neil Tennant bounds across the stage like someone half his age, while Chris Lowe escapes from his synthesizer pod at one point to do a little jig - getting the biggest roar of the night! With the surprising but welcome inclusion of mid-80s album tracks such as 'Why Don't We Live Together' and 'Two Divided by Zero', a rousing mash-up of Colplay's 'Viva La Vida' and the boys' own 'Domino Dancing' on the CD, as well as the 2009 Brit Awards performance with Lady Gaga and Brandon Flowers on the DVD, this is a great package and an essential purchase for all fans.
