Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson's Thriller is the bestselling album of all time, with 45 million worldwide sales powered by eight Grammy Awards. The 1982 album was also a success from which the pop superstar never really recovered--subsequent albums seemed to have no other goal than to beat the records set by Thriller. The highly- polished sound of Quincy Jones's production sounds almost organic compared to Jackson's more recent work, and in the same regard, Thriller was significantly slicker than its predecessor, Off the Wall. Both albums established a Jackson style that aimed for the dance floor with songs built on a state-of-the-art bed of percussion and keyboards. Elements of milestone Thriller tracks like "Billie Jean" (arguably Jackson's best-ever performance) and "Beat It" (with its hard- rock solo by guitarist Eddie Van Halen) influenced not just Jackson's records, but those of the entire dance-pop world. On the song "Thriller", Jackson indulged his taste for the juvenile and invited Vincent Price to rap in a really scary voice. With Thriller the album, Jackson created a different kind of monster--a hit album of such magnitu...
Just really stunning - everybody should own this., 2010-02-14 Jackson is just stunning on this record. The versatility and beauty of his voice is outstanding, particularly on 'Lady of my Life' and 'Human Nature'. When people describe records as "classic" they are mostly wrong. But THRILLER really is a true classic.
What a tragically early death for MJ.

Abba
Anyone looking for the key to ABBA's enduring appeal should look no further than "Voulez Vous" and "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)" for their answer. There was an innocence to the Swedish quartet, even when they were singing about one-night stands and the invitations to them. Gold establishes that the band, while appreciated as campy, were actually multifaceted in their execution. "S.O.S." has a raw urgency in its chorus, and "Does Your Mother Know" draws its energy from classic 1950s rock & roll. Likewise, you don't have to be Priscilla to swoon over "Mamma Mia" or "Dancing Queen". And when it comes to drama, those soaring vocals on "The Winner Takes It All" turn the song into a bitter anthem of every relationship that has ever fallen apart. The much-covered "Lay All Your Love on Me" is practically epic. --Steve Gdula
Abba Gold - It Certainly Is!, 2010-07-08 I bought this CD so as to be able to learn one of the songs for the covers band I play in. I soon found myself listening to all the songs. All the hits are here and this certainly is a great CD. I wasn't an ABBA fan (not the place in Wales), but I am now.

La Roux
With commercially successful singles "Quicksand" and "In For The Kill" (latterly remixed by dubstep luminary Skream), red-headed, pale-skinned Brixton girl Elly Jackson and her "invisible" co-producer Ben Langmaid irrevocably established their love of 80s pop. This debut album continues the duo’s foray into euphoric retro-dance, nodding non-ironically to the likes of The Eurythmics, Depeche Mode, Heaven 17 and The Human League while remaining impressively contemporary. Opening with a string of sassy tunes--the buzzing "Tigerlily", the synth-heavy "Quicksand" and the slick and fiery "Bulletproof"--it’s apparent that La Roux have colour, class and confidence in spades. The album tapers off a little during the second half--failed experiments like "Cover My Eyes" which features the London Community Gospel Choir don't help--but it still boasts way more in the shape of dynamic killers than sappy fillers. First class. --Danny McKenna

Another GaGa Masterpiece!, 2010-08-23 Firstly, all the people that rated this one star obviously aren't Lady Gaga fans.
I thought this album was interesting and most of the remixes are great. My favourites are Boys Boys Boys, The Fame, Paparazzi and Dance in The Dark. They all are fantastic and have good beats to dance to. My least favourite is the first Just Dance remix, it's bland but apart from that I'd definitley recommend The Remix to any Gaga fan!

Blondie <3, 2010-03-10 I love every song on this album! Usually with a bands 'Greatest hits' album, there is always one or two at least I skip past as I'm not keen on, but with Blondie {and Squeeze!} I can sit and listen to every track. All these songs are well-written, catchy and they are definitely one of my fave bands, would recommend this album to anyone who loves their songs!

It transports you to the dance floor!!!!, 2010-09-01 I just wanna say that if you are a Kylie's fan or you just like Pop/Dance music this album is a MUST.
You will enjoy every song from the begining 'til the end, starting with the amazing All the lovers and going through Outta my way, Closer, Better than Today, Aphrodite, Cupid boy and Can't beat the feeling (Those songs are the ones I like the most)
I do not particularly like Illusion and Looking for an angel but they do not take this album down.
The DVD is a good aditional but it could be better since it includes the Making of "All the lovers" but no the video.
The videos from the American tour are good but they are a mix from previous performances. It would be better to have "Better than Today" performance which is obviously more related to this album.
Anyway, the whole package is great, the packaging, the songs, the DVD and that is why I am giving it 5 starts.
I can wait for the Aphrodite's tour!!!
Kylie, you did it again, you R O C K!
