What's with the album's name?, 2004-11-19 I became interested in Alicia when I heard all the hype about her being a child prodigy classically trained on piano. Unfortunately, in her piano education she missed the part in music theory in recognizing major and minor keys. Only three out the twelve songs are actually in the key of A minor and not one of them a hit single. Perhaps, she named it A(alicia) and minor(due to the melancholy feel)?
Simply Fallin' for Alicia, 2004-02-16 I apologise for the pun in the title, but it is a simple truth.Alicia Keys, a 19-year-old Soul Diva has the keys to your heart. Her album "Songs in A Minor" shows her amazing vocal skills and her brilliant gift of playing the piano. Alicia's music is genuinely passionate, sensual and even angelic. So much so, that she is the first J Records artist to reach #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart. Alicia Keys has a gift that must be heard. Once you feel her music surround you, you will be a proud owner of her debut album, Songs in A Minor. "My music is a fusion of everything that I am, and that is a lot." Alicia Keys. I disgree; her music is a fusion of everything that's great about music, and that is alot my friends! Sit back. Kick off your Adi's. Select 'repeat'. Enjoy!
very good album to chill to, 2006-08-12 this is a very good debut album to relax or chill to as there aren't many tracks that you would skip but there are not many outstanding tracks apart from falling, womans worth, troubles, why do i feel so sad and butterflyz.
most people seem to like the song 'jane doe' for some reason but it is not one of my favourite tracks on the cd.
since you can get this album on the cheap my advice would be go for it.
consistently good over 16 tracks, 2008-06-19 Very enjoyable and relaxing music to listen to with smoothly sung songs and nice backing music. If you don't like hip hop this cd on which the hip hop is restrained by the soul and the soul is heightened by the hip hop should be to your liking.
Thee best album in the entire world...EVER!!!!, 2003-03-18 Have you ever had a really amazing dream and when you wake up you wish you could go back into that dream??? Well, with this album it sort of is like that...except this time you can play it over and over and over and over again! From the incredibly infectious 'Fallin' to the smooth and sultry lyrics of 'Butterflyz', this album never has a dull moment from track 1-16. At such a young age, it is easy to see why so many people judge Ms. Keys as being 'an annoying little pop-princess', but if them people actually sat down and listened to this one-of-a-kind album, then they'd see how much of a prodigy this girl really is. She sings, writes, produces, harmonizes, plays and performs in spectacular style that hasn't been seen in an artist so young since Michael Jackson's solo efforts. Although there are many, my personal highlight of the album is on track 3 - How Come You Don't Call Me – a Prince penned track that Alicia sings in true amazing style. The notes are high and Ms Keys has no trouble in reaching them, the tune in soulful and again she easily bends them all together perfectly to make the best song I have ever heard EVER! Even if you have never liked r’n’b/soul music you have to buy this album. I was a huge rock fan before I bought this album and really thought soul music was junk...until I bought this album. I was worried that the whole album wouldn’t live up to the astonishingly sensational first single ‘Fallin’ but after just one listen, it was easy to see this album was so much more than excellent. BUY THIS ALBUM – YOU WON’T REGRET IT!
