Amazon.co.uk Review Yep--the artist formerly known as Hannah Montana is going it alone. Having conquered the teen market under her Hannah Montana moniker, 15-year-old Cyrus is now aiming for the adult world; or at least a slightly older audience. Breakout follows her dual-marketed Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus album, and differs from it in that she sounds a little more grown up, a little rougher around the edges, and just a touch more self-expressive. Needless to say, Breakout is produced to within an inch of its life. Every aspect, from concept to mixdown, has been polished and buffed to achieve that perfect tween sheen. Despite this resulting in a somewhat sterile and claustrophobic aura, the album manages to achieve some infectious moments. To her credit, Cyrus has co-written most of the songs here (all but two), which largely eschew electronic dancefloor sounds for a guitar-heavy ethic. The punchy title track (co-produced by the Go-Go's Gina Schock), the thrashy, catchy "7 Things" and the boyfriend putdown "Fly On The Wall" are immediate highlights, but ballads such as "Bottom of the Ocean" and her sped up version of Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" are much less convincing. Breakout reveals a genuine young talent, but one that's perhaps being rushed way too quickly towards her prime.--Danny McKenna

Miley Cyrus, 2009-09-07 Great CD for any Miley fan and not bad listing for mums and dads for a change!!
miley magic, 2010-01-30 I brought this as a present for my nephew much to the disgust of my two daughters who also love Miley. The CD is really good (he's playing it lots!!!) and Miley's version of the climb is so much better than XFactors. Really good price too.

Amazing, 2010-01-29 I am a 16 year old girl but I still love Miley Cyrus- and this album is the reason why. This is the first time she has broken away from her Hannah Montana stereotype, and completely changed her personality. Even her voice sounds completely different to her Hannah Montana voice. Stand out tracks for me are:
7 Things- a great song any girl can relate to
Fly On The Wall- an electro-rock/pop style, completely different from anything she's done before
Bottom Of The Ocean- beautiful ballad, amazing vocals and great lyrics
These Four Walls- amazingly sad but absolutely brilliant- I can't believe a 16 year old girl could pull this off
Goodbye- a sad song that turns happy at the end, with beautiful lyrics
My least favourite song is the See You Again remix, as I just personally prefer the original. Also, it's not THAT different from the original, there's just an extra drum beat added and some special effects that I think the song does better without.
Overall, a brilliant album, completely different from Hannah Montana and a break away from Disney. Buy it!!!
Ok i admit, I LOVE IT, 2009-09-08 I LOVE this album. NOt a fan of the music from HANNAH MONTANA SERIES but this is such a great cd. It really takes her away from the HAnnah Montana stuff and has a nice COuntry/POP twist to it. Every song is great and catchy and memorable in a good way. Im 28 and its on my mp3 player all the time.
Don't be put off by her Hannah Montana stuff, this is so different and really worth a try.
