Not blue with Kind of Blue, 2010-01-28 I have lost count of the occasions and places where I have seen reference to this album, but wherever it has been mentioned, there has been an air of reverence and awe about it that has intrigued me. Now I know why it is written about in such appreciative terms; an incredible piece of recording of some incredible playing. Truly magical. If you appreciate music, really appreciate music and have no particularly strong bias or prejudice, then this album really should be in your collection.
It is uber cool, and stands the test of time in a way that so few of today's recordings are likely to be able to do in 50 year's time. In a word, timeless.
The greatest album of all time?!, 2010-02-07 I only recently discovered this awesome album and now can't stop playing it! ... Ironically I used to hate jazz and even Miles - Doh, what a twit I was - ...
It swings sublimely, makes me happy and lifts my soul each time 'So What' kicks off! ... The rhythm section is just so gobsmackingly superb and each solo cuts in raising one to a yet higher level! ... Phew, we are surely 'not worthy' but I for one am eternally grateful to Miles and his boys for this masterpiece!
I'm now on a happy journey of discovery finding all the other tracks by these artists that I have missed out on all these years ...
Thanks Miles!
DO BELIEVE THE HYPE!, 2009-12-07 The individulistic, counter-culture (admittedly snobbish) side of me has a small but nevertheless undeniable resistance to this album, it being the most famous and popular jazz album of all time. However on each listen it is apparrent that on this occasion the music buying masses are correct, and that Kind of Blue is maybe the best peice of music of the twentieth century. Each note on every song is so well chosen and played with with such control and lyricism that the overall effect comes exremely close to musical perfection.
kind of view., 2009-11-08 It is a record I had some years ago, but lost it moving house. It is probably the best JAZZ record of all time.Play it & have a glass of red. Jack L
Not just for jazz fans..., 2009-11-25 Interestingly, this album was voted as the best album in the world by the Zagat guide. Yes that's right, not just the best jazz album in the world, but the best album full stop... While I'm not sure I would go that far, it's certainly very good and well worth buying at the current price.
