A must for all musical theatre lovers. Strong individual performances.
Have watched it over and over again.
Memories of the orginal stage show which I saw in London with Elaine Paige.
Chess In Concert FANTASTIC, 2009-12-13
WOW. SO long awaited and it most definitely does not disappoint.
An interesting cast list with Josh Groban taking center stage alongside Edina Menzel. Both add an interesting vocal colour to the roles and the staging (in the round) is most intriguing. The sole DOWN point is Marti Pellow. A VERY wet (wet wet) performance & Murray head he AINT! Even Adam Pascal manages the part even if a little shaky on some notes.
Although stated as NTSC it is actually Non Region specific & plays on PAL system and computers (Mac or PC)
The incision of a multitude of production sons is a bonus as we get to hear the beautiful 'Someone Else's Story' from the Broadway production as well as the 'Argument' dropped for the USA. The chorus choir is very tight & David Bedella's voice has a nice resonance.
For the Chess enthusiast, novice or aficionado this is a true gem & a MUST for any collection.
I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone & wish I had been in the Country to see it live.

This was an absolutely stunning DVD! I would wholeheartedly recommend everyone buy it! The cast were superb - particularly the Russian! Will watch it over and over again with pleasure.

Well I thoroughly enjoyed this DVD. If you liked Chess, or even musicals in general, this is worth watching.
However, it loses one star for me because although it plays on my PC, my daughter's cheap Tesco "Value" DVD player, an old Starlogic DVD player, it won't play on my Panasonic DMR-EX77 and that's the one attached to my main big Samsung TV, so I'm unable to get the best out of it without messing around with cables to swap players around.

This is a brilliant DVD and bought back memories of when we saw it live in London. The sound and picture very good quality. Josh Groban is fantastic.
